You'll Never Walk Alone

My family is now well into it's fifth generation of Glasgow Celtic FC supporting Boyle's, spanning 100 years on my Dad's side - I'm one of the fourth generation. One of the enduring gifts of being a football fan is the ability for a team to carry you through challenging times - either through their fortunes on the park, just because of your connection with them, or both. Hold that thought...
Over the past month or so, I've been learning to walk again and it's been hard. At the beginning, a new prosthetic leg is heavy, tight, uncomfortable, often very painful and you spend a lot of the time either falling over or just wanting to throw the damn thing across the room.
But, you have to find the motivation from somewhere, to put in the graft and figure it all out. My motivation came from Celtic's unbeaten run to become champions of Scotland again.
If you're not a sports fan, this will sound just plain weird, but if you are, you'll get it.... When they won, I won. When they dug deep, I dug deep. And before long, I'd sworn to myself that by the time the Championship was won, so would I be walking again.
When they were Champions, I'd be a Champion.
It all worked out quite well...
